ISO 17025 ACCREDITATION FOR MIRA QUATRO PARK

6 November 2003

MIRA's Quatro Park testing venue is one of the first test and development centres of its kind to be awarded ISO 17025 (BS EN ISO/IEC 17025) accreditation for its range of test services offered to clients across a wide range of industries.MIRA Quatro Park is the Basildon division of Nuneaton based MIRA Ltd, and was opened in June 2000 to provide a test and development service to Visteon and to other companies located in the South East of England. Following a major £1.2 million expansion the facility now occupies 4000 square metres. Test services on offer include climatic, vibration, shock, headform impact, co-ordinate measuring, and the testing of electro-mechanical systems. In addition, the facility is one of the largest independent suppliers of environmental test services in Europe and contains a full range of environmental and thermal shock chambers, several 'shake and bake' and ambient vibration facilities, temperature chambers and dust facilities, and a materials test laboratory.ISO (International Standards Organisation) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies from some 140 countries, with a mission to promote the development of standardisation and related activities in the world with a view to facilitating the international exchange of goods and services, and to developing cooperation in the spheres of intellectual, scientific, technological and economic activity.Trevor Margereson, Facilities Manager at Quatro Park, comments: "ISO 17025 accreditation is the quality standard increasingly being demanded of test laboratories by OEM's and their suppliers. For Quatro Park to be one of the first testing facilities of its kind to achieve ISO 17025 is recognition of MIRA's commitment to ensure the highest quality standards are applied. To couple this with our constant drive to deliver cutting edge technology we are confident of maximising clients' use of our facilities." Since the opening of the facility, business has increased significantly with a range of customers so far including automotive, aerospace and specialist component manufacturers. Typical products tested include automotive electronics, automotive coolant systems, interior and exterior trim components, powertrain components and seating systems.
