ISO 17025 Accreditation for MIRA's Brake Testing Facility

14 October 2003

The awarding of ISO 17025 to MIRA's brake testing facility by UKAS comes on top of NSAI's appointment of MIRA as an automotive Technical Service for brake testing and greatly increases MIRA's growing portfolio of approved legislative test services.

This accreditation and MIRA's appointment as a Technical Service by NSAI for EMC and anti-theft automotive legislation, enables MIRA to provide a type approval service for component and vehicle manufacturers seeking approval under a range of European and global legislation governing braking, EMC and anti-theft standards.

Dr Roisin Hopkins, Brake Testing Facilities Manager, comments: " Achieving ISO 17025 accreditation strengthens MIRA's credentials as the leading quality standards provider for brake testing in the UK. We are committed to extending MIRA's accreditation within specialist areas such as refinement and dynamics, vehicle safety, powertrain and emissions, to enable us to offer in the future an NSAI appointed technical service incorporating all automotive directives."

MIRA's Certification Services is also able to manage the Whole Vehicle Type Approval process for automotive manufacturers from identifying specific requirements, through worst-case assessment and witnessed testing to the issuing of certificates.

MIRA's ISO 17025 accreditation combined with MIRA's appointment as a Technical Service by NSAI, enables component and vehicle manufacturers to obtain a full type approval service under the following legislation:
