MIRA on '5th Gear' (May 9th)

29 April 2005

A 30mph target vehicle (c-sector family car) was t-boned by a SUV travelling at 60mph, on MIRA's Highway And Vehicle Open-air Crash (HAVOC) site.

The test was designed to provide the viewers with shocking high speed footage - and is far outside of any legislative test parameters.

The program addresses safety concerns over the compatibility of large SUV's and other smaller vehicles, particularly in relation to side impacts.

MIRA's Roy Quinney was in hand to interpret the crash footage and explain the measures the industry has in place to combat this well known issue.
