The MIRA One Day Vehicle Handling and Awareness Course is aimed at driving professionals such as test drivers, test engineers, emergency services, and any other professions requiring high-performance driving skills

To assess the ride, handling and steering characteristics of a road vehicle, a test driver needs to be able to drive consistently in a relaxed and disciplined manner.

MIRA has developed a training programme which will provide familiarisation on the MIRA Proving Ground facilities, and demonstrate techniques used by our Vehicle Dynamics Department staff in vehicle control and assessing handling behaviour.  This will cover assessment at limit conditions of handling and braking, including dry and wet skidding.

In-car instruction is given on a one-to-one basis,  MIRA’s Vehicle Handling Courses use both front and rear wheel drive cars that are fitted with roll cages and four-point safety harnesses.

It is vitally important that a pupil is familiar with control of an oversteering vehicle, to enable them to assess the vehicle at the limit of adhesion, whilst ensuring this is carried out in a controlled manner.
